WCEA Boundary Policy

Board Document · Required Before Any Adult Has Student Contact

This is the strictest, most operationally binding policy WCEA has — every adult in any program role must read, understand, and sign it before any contact with a student, with zero exceptions for tenure or relationship. It locks in the Two-Adult Rule absolutely (a session simply doesn't happen without a second adult present), and bans private meetings, personal transportation of students, personal-channel communication, disappearing-message apps, individual gifts, personal social media contact, unconsented recording, and physical contact beyond a handshake or high-five. Every adult is treated as a mandatory reporter, with a clear, judgment-free script for what to do if a student discloses abuse — and the Board Chair steps in directly if the concern involves the Program Director. There's no warning system for boundary violations: a confirmed violation is immediate, permanent removal, full stop. Reports are retained for seven years and go to the board at the next meeting regardless of outcome. Background checks renew every 3 years, consistent with the Youth Protection Policy.
